About The Black List

The Black List is an online community where moviemakers find scripts to make and writers to write them, and screenwriters find moviemakers to make their scripts and employ them.

Begun in 2005 as an annual survey of several dozen executives’ favorite unproduced screenplays, The Black List has grown to survey over 500 executives each year (virtually 100% of Hollywood’s studio system’s executive corps). Over 250 Black List scripts have been produced into films grossing over $18 billion in worldwide box office. Black List scripts have won 30 Academy Awards – including three of the last five Best Pictures (”Slumdog Millionaire,” “The King’s Speech” and ”Argo”) and seven of the last 12 screenwriting awards (“Juno,”  “Slumdog Millionaire,” “The King’s Speech,” “The Social Network,”  “The Descendants,” “Argo” and “Django Unchained”) – from 180 nominations.

In October 2012, The Black List launched an online database of every screenplay circulating Hollywood and all those submitted by English language screenwriters from around the world.  Since its launch, it has hosted more than 10,000 screenplays and completed more than 14,000 script evaluations. More than 40 writers have found representation at major agencies and management companies and more than 30 writers have sold their screenplays as a direct result of introductions made via the site.

At any given time, more than 2,200 screenplays are actively hosted for perusal by thousands of film industry professionals, ranging from agency assistants to studio and network heads.

ENLISTED

ENLISTED
(Fridays, 9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT, beginning Jan. 10, 2014)

ENLISTED is an irreverent and heartfelt single-camera comedy about three brothers on a small Florida Army post and the group of misfits who surround them. Charming, funny and a natural-born leader, Staff Sergeant PETE HILL (Geoff Stults, “Ben and Kate,” “The Finder”) was on a path for a huge military career until one mistake overseas got him booted stateside to Fort McGee, the post in Florida where his two younger brothers are stationed. Now, as their platoon sergeant, Pete must serve both as big brother and military boss. Corporal DERRICK HILL (Chris Lowell, “Private Practice,” “Veronica Mars”) is the middle brother – smart and sarcastic, he likes to stir up trouble and doesn’t really care about being a Soldier. Private RANDY HILL (Parker Young, “Suburgatory”), on the other hand, loves it. He’s the hyper-enthusiastic, hyper-goofy – just plain hyper – youngest brother who wants to be the gung-ho “G.I. Joe” military ideal.

The Hill brothers all serve in the Rear Detachment (Rear D) unit, comprised of the Soldiers left behind when everyone else is deployed, who mow lawns on post, sort mail, wash tanks and find lost dogs. But the Rear D’s main job is taking care of deployed Soldiers’ families. Whatever they need, the Rear D Soldiers do. It’s a job that shifts each moment from the thrilling to the mundane to the emotional and back again.

Fort McGee Rear D is run by Command Sergeant Major DONALD CODY (Emmy Award winner Keith David, “Cloud Atlas,” “The Cape”), a firm but fair man who served with the brothers’ late father. Sergeant Major Cody promised to look out for them, so he brought all the brothers to the post to fulfill that promise. Cody has seen it all and lost a foot to prove it – which no one can forget, since he never misses an opportunity to bring it up. Also under Cody’s command is the  confident, funny, tough and beautiful Staff Sergeant JILL PEREZ (Angelique Cabral, “Friends with Benefits”), who is the same rank as Pete and leads another Rear D platoon on post, all the while challenging Pete’s decisions at every turn.

A military-set family comedy, ENLISTED centers on three brothers who, when the best of the best are sent overseas, stay behind to try to keep the post in order. Between clean-up duty at a parade, human-grease-bowling and assorted soldierly pranks, they will inadvertently discover the key to strengthening their long-lost childhood bonds.

HELL’S KITCHEN 12

 Chef Gordon Ramsay
returns with Season 12 of HELL’S KITCHEN,
Thursday, March 13 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX,
followed by the AMERICAN IDOL XIII results show
 (9:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed),
which moves to its new time period.

In the Season Premiere of HELL’S KITCHEN, Chef Ramsay splits the latest batch of 20 aspiring restaurateurs into two teams, men vs. women, and asks them to present their signature dishes. The winning team gets treated to an exclusive dinner with Ramsay, while the losing team is left behind to scrub down the kitchen.

 GORDON RAMSAY

(Host/Executive Producer/Head Chef on HELL’S KITCHEN)

Scottish by birth, Gordon Ramsay was brought up in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. With an injury prematurely putting an end to any hopes of a promising career in football, he went back to college to complete a course in hotel management. His dedication and natural talent led him to train with some of the world’s leading chefs, such as Albert Roux and Marco Pierre White in London, and Guy Savoy and Joël Robuchon in France.

In 1993, Ramsay became chef of Aubergine in London, which, within three years, was awarded two Michelin stars. In 1998, at the age of 31, Ramsay set up his first wholly-owned and namesake restaurant, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, which quickly received the most prestigious accolade in the culinary world – three Michelin stars. Today, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay is London’s longest-running restaurant to hold this award, and Ramsay is one of only four chefs in the U.K. to maintain three stars.

Now internationally renowned, Ramsay has opened a string of successful restaurants across the globe, from Italy to the United States, and holds nine Michelin stars. The group continues to grow with two ventures in Doha, Qatar, having opened in 2012; a total of three restaurants in Las Vegas, including Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris Las Vegas, GR Pub and Grill at Caesars Palace and GR BurGR at Planet Hollywood; and Union Street Café in London’s borough market, opening in September.

Ramsay received an OBE (Order of the British Empire awarded by Queen Elizabeth II) in 2006 for services to the industry.

Ramsay has also become a star of the small screen both in the U.K. and internationally, with U.K. shows such as
 “Gordon Behind Bars,”
 “Ultimate Cookery Course,”
 “Gordon’s Great Escapes” and
 “Gordon Ramsay: Shark Bait,”
as well as four top-rated FOX shows that air in more than 200 countries worldwide:
 KITCHEN NIGHTMARES,
HELL’S KITCHEN,
 MASTERCHEF and HOTEL HELL.
